After decades of civil war and the absence of a functioning government in Somalia, many of the country’s youth have been left without skills to make a living, especially women who face cultural barriers. Recently – with funding from the Norwegian government – the Hayle Barise Technical Development Center reopened in Mogadishu to teach young people new job skills. That is where Zowdo Hussein is training to become an electrician. Mohamed Sheikh Nor reports from Mogadishu.
